Sponsoring Apprentice Contests

We have had some interest in sponsorship of the new Apprentice Contests. Here is what we have come up with.

HOW TO SPONSOR APPRENTICE CONTESTS:

If you would like to sponsor a contest, site message midian or myself with your wishes.

COST OF SPONSORSHIP:

Type 1:
$10.00 to sponsor a regular Apprentice Contest
1st place = $5.00, 2nd place = $3.00, 3rd place = $2.00.
Your name will be featured in the contest directions.

Type 2:
$15.00 to sponsor a regular Apprentice Contest.
The sponsor has the choice of the contest type from a list provided by admins.
1st place = $7.50, 2nd place = $4.50, 3rd place = $3.00.
Your name will be featured in the contest directions.

Type 3:
$20.00 to sponsor an Apprentice Contest of your choosing.
You can pick the contest type and supply the image (must have admin approval). Images are to be no larger than 750 pixels wide , 1000 pixels tall and 250K. You can also choose the date of your contest.
1st place = $10.00, 2nd place = $6.00, 3rd place = $4.00.
Your name will be featured in the contest directions.

We also need a little lead time for these options.

So, if anyone is interested, site message midian or me (Keb) with your desires.

about Apprentice Contests i think that is nice to see at home page the last submited entry, in this way everyone can notice that need to vote or comment in additional entry, but i think that when the submition process is over the image that appear at the home page most be the source suppiled image. I think that show the last submited when the contest is over is like a free promotion or advertisement for it, it is not fair to the other entries. But this is just my oppinion . You are doing so well with this kind of contests Keb and Mid, both have to feel so proud about Apprentice Contests, it is a success.

Thanks for your support, Skorp. You have a valid point too. We will see if we can feature the theme post when the entry period is over until a winner is selected.

Was just thinking...we could extend this offer to ANY contest at Freaking News...however because the other contests are based on current news, we couldn't really have the different levels of sponsorship. But we could allow members to say, "hey, I'd like to sponsor tomorrow's contest, whatever it may be." Just a thought.

Since the site jackpot changed, we need to edit the apprentice contest sponsorship amounts, too.
Starting Thursday, Dec.7th, the total cost of sponsorship of an apprentice contest is as follows:
$1.50 (30 credits) for the first place in any apprentice contest
$0.90 (18 credits) for the second place in any apprentice contest
$0.60 (12 credits) for the third place in any apprentice contest
Total credits = 60 credits ($3.00)
Thanks.

Why don't members pay for contests? Not alot, but hey maybe 5-10 cents an entry? Even if you just vote regulary you will end up with enough to still enter, and it will be contributing some (probably not much) funds to the site.

Ok no one juump down my throat for that suggestion. I know I am new but it seems reasonable. I would be willing to pay that per entry.

No one will jump down your throat for your suggestion We have always maintained an attitude that the site is here for the users, and the artists/voters/forum posters etc are what makes the site what it is, and therefore a success(monetarily). We (as members) do contribute by sponsoring the app contests, and i wouldn't be surprised if we opened this up to advanced contests one day. (I'm hoping ).

If the site started charging to upload an entry, I'd quit on the spot. Your suggestion, ajalum, is truly generous though and in good spirit! And yes, sponsoring any contest has already begun midian...see 1216! And 1242
