What a great idea, I am sure I am not the only member who has been feeling disheartened by failure to keep up with the genius choppers here.

An Apprentice section should encourage more people to enter, including myself.

So far, we are having a pretty good turn out in the 1st contest.
The submission period was a little longer than we planned but we didn't know how it was going to go. The next contest will start before voting ends in this one. We are going to try to have them about every 3 days. Also, because of the code, we made the awards $5.00 for 1st, $3.00 for 2nd & $2.00 for 3rd places. we are using donated pictures for theme posts too. We will credit you in the write-up if we use one of your pictures for the themepost.

This is going well. I love how the artists find so many wonderful solutions to this challenge, and how helpful most of the critics are ( apart from the usual, and ubiquitous, exception!)

Azure, I hear you! But you've already got a very respectable amount of hardware on your mantelpiece...

Which led me to thinking: in some games such as Go and Golf, the most successful players are given handicaps which help to "level the field" when they play against novices. We already have a weighted voting system where experienced players' votes count for more. How difficult would it be to have a weighted scoring system whereby the scores of experienced players (say, those with most trophies per entry) count for less? so they actually have to work harder to earn the same points? Just an idea

It is a very good idea Kibuyu, There is a select group of geniuses who win over and over. Ordinary choppers like me don't stand a chance.

Rather then handicap people who win a lot, why not have a champion's league for choppers with lots of gold trophies, 10-15 maybe? It would spur them on to even greater achievements.

Then there could be an intermediate contest for people who have won one gold or more ie: 1 - 10

Beginners without gold trophies could hsve their own contest. I feel this would attract a lot of entrants.
