Image reuse policy

In order for Freaking News to maintain its own identity, we will no longer accept images entered on any other Photoshop contest site even if you were the author of the image. Images created for personal web sites will continue to be allowed for entry here at Freaking News. FAQs/Submission Rules have been updated accordingly.

This will be good real good for the site.
(may be a good idea to sticky this announcment for folks who only swing by once or twice a month.)

There are a number of users on FN who have their own personal websites. Thanks for your concern.

Here's a question: What about recycling elements from previously published images? I do this myself sometimes for convenience. For example:

This space ship came from here.

PS: Both images are from the FN site. I was just wondering about the ethics of reusing aspect.

You can not just resubmit "the whole image" from the previous contests (and it says so in the submission rules too). However, if you recycle only part of your previous work, this is formally not against the rules, and we allow this, as long as it's done infrequently.

What about this: I put in a lot of effort creating an image for a recent contest but, as once or twice in the past, I DID NOT READ THE DIRECTIONS THOROUGHLY (Hee Hee Hee... this is embarrassing) and was DQ'd. The possibility that the image will fit future contest directions is good. Can I submit the image again without changes?

Yes, if the DQed image meets the future contest directions, you can resubmit. In other words "if the image was DQed, treat it as if it did not exist".

How 'bout all my entries that were DQed for ... and irreligiousity and such? Can I save them the future when the social mores change (like maybe when the Democrats get back in control of things) and try again?

When avertisers give me green light to display such entries, I promise I'll open Ray Gregory Museum of DQed Entries. Under each there will be a personal story why and when the entry was DQed.

OOh maybe you can open an Azure Sky museum too for the nipples and aureolas that have been DQ'd.
What is it with Americans and nipples? In the UK they are shown openly in advertisments and magazines. The most famous place is page three of the Sun, a mass circulation newspaper.
