Log-in issue with IE

I'm at a friend's place and I tried to log in using IE and I was denied entry. Being the violent troll that I am, I figured I had just got the boot and since this is something I'm used to, I didn't think too much of it.

Then I remembered that the people running this joint aren't sh!theads and have always been cool to me, so I tried on an iPad and voila - the troll is back in.

Anyway, seems like an IE problem or something. I think it was the latest version, but it wasn't my pc, so I can't say for sure or which version of win7 it was either. Thank God for Linux.

Many members are using IE and they all login daily without problems.
If you could post a screenshot showing the problem we can elaborate on that.

I don't use IE if I can help it, but I was quickly checking in on a few things on a friend's PC and I could see and do everything except log in.

I'm not there any longer and didn't save a screenshot since everything worked on the iPad with Safari.

It was on the home page just before I hit the login link, though, and the login dialogue and functionality seemed to work fine, but once I put in my userID, password and click the ToU acknowledgement, I got some message about the page I was on requiring log in (it was a Freaking News message, not an IE or Windows error message) but I couldn't do it, no matter what screen I was on when I tried.

I actually started an email to you asking what I did (figuring I probably did something stupid without realizing it) and then before I sent it, I tried the Apple and everything worked like a charm so I dropped the email and posted this.

I was logged in at home, though my PC had gone to hibernate hours prior, so I wasn't really logged on, and as I said, I was able to log on once I switched devices, OS and browsers, so I figured it was a thing and that you probably knew about it.

Glad I posted, but I'm sorry. I got nothin' else.

Thanks for the description. I now see the login was denied by the site, while you could browse the site unlogged just fine. This might have happened due to your friend's browser security settings - sometimes strict settings deny cookies from the (all but "trusted") sites. We do use cookies for logins so, the site could not log you in if our cookies were denied. Sometimes the cookies get corrupted too, so a user needs to clean all cookies and internet cache files and restart the browser - then login works fine again. Could be one of those things.

If it happens on one of your computers, do let us know - we'll work together to resolve this.

Hey, I see your new site status is now "Director of The FBI", so all future logins should be granted

Female 8008135 Inspector...or something like that. But, they do get you in most places, and when one can direct them...well, that's something, now isn't it?

Sorry to cause alarm or whatever. I honestly thought I got kicked out at first, though...and I was like, "Dmn...my last couple chops weren't great, but they weren't kick me off the site horrible..."

Anymore, I just assume I screwed up something and figure it was bound to happen eventually when I'm banned. I still don't know what the majority of these initial offenses are (I know what the resulting ones are, but I figure, if I gotta do the time, might as well have the fun of doing the virtual crime).

Anyway, having no clue here didn't do much to dissuade me from the fact I was booted either. Luckily, the laptop I was using for a couple minutes was running low on power, else you might have received an unpleasant email from yours truly. (nah....just a wtf? one...)

Malcolmxy I get the feeling you are a teensy weensy bit paranoid. No you are not a troll. In fact I would say you are a popular poster here

Oh no...I'm a troll. Or, sometimes I go through streaks and post too much, anyway. I should really shut my pie hole more than I should open it most times. I'm fairly confrontational sometimes as well. I'm also misunderstood a lot. Chili and I got off on both feet wrong. I think he's more or less cool with me now, but we got into it as much as I allow myself to get into it these days there for a second.

I never get in a huff about any of it, though...it happens...it was whatever it was...then it's over. Sometimes others mark you at that point, which is unfortunate.

I just try to have fun. Sometimes that means a lively debate. Sometimes a mini-flame war. Sometimes a nonsensical babblefest. Sometimes posting a bunch of pictures.

It's all a way to pass the time, but some folks (usually the ones in charge) take it personal.

Believe me when I tell you that I've been kicked off enough sites enough times (upwards of 1,000 times at a couple sites) that it was a reaction that I come by honestly.

I got a problem with authority. It's a character flaw. I got lots more. Nobody's perfect, but they do like pretending they are online...

Not necessarily a character flaw, you just don't like self appointed autocrats and jobsworths trying to boss you around.

FN admins and jurors are pretty laid back. No petty restrictions here.
