Why?

I submitted this image yesterday on freaking news:

[URL=http://www.hostingpics.net/viewer.php?id=301745orangeoutan.jpg]

I would like to know why this image was removed? Yet it responds well to the theme of the contest "long arms and short legs".

Thank you in advance for your answer

Regards
Denlig

Did you not receive an email re DQ and reason why? If not please update your email address Thanks.

Please reads the contest directions clearly:

Hollywood is obsessed with long legs, which are considered a standard of beautiful figure. That's the reason we often see celebrities wearing high-waisted pants and skirts, which create an illusion that their legs start higher. For the same reason short shirts, jackets and coats are favorite in Hollywood.
Let's not allow Hollywood to fool us any more with their visual tricks - Photoshop CELEBRITIES & POLITITIANS with really short legs AND long arms.

Nowhere in the directions does it say animals.

Feel free to submit the image to Freakshow when it is up next
Cheers

Kellie gave you the reason why the image was removed. The same reason was stated in the email notification.

Ok I undertood and I changed my email.

I have another remark about the last contest 'Eyeglasses in Art':
I submitted three proposals for this contest:
- The lady with the ermine
- Mona Lisa
- Self-portrait of Albrecht Durer

And these three proposals were copied by other competitors !
Are people lacking imagination to this point?

Thanks re changing mail

In regards to other authors submitting same artist/painting as you with different glasses, it is not that they copied you at all.

As the saying goes "great minds think alike" and there are so many popular old paintings out there that most people go for/use.

So please do not take it personally, you will find in many contests people have the same idea, and just because someone has entered that idea before them does not make it a copy and does not mean you have the right to that idea nor that they should not enter theirs.

It is true that the word "copy" may be a little exaggerated

You are going to take me for a jerk, but I see this morning that another of my proposals "The girl with the pearl" from Vermeer that I had submitted the day before yesterday also comes on Freaking News!

I really think I was the only one who proposed 4 paintings that were all 'reproduced' afterwards (There are several self-portraits of Van Gogh but they are all different)

The interest of this contest is not to have the same paintings with just a pair of different glasses but rather a maximum of diversity.

Have a good day

Picking the same source from crawled images is very common. For example: If you and I like the same artist, let us say Vermeer, there will be a finite number of crawled pictures with our quality and size specifications covering Vermeer. Out of that number, we are both going to select the BEST one. That is a given. So the odds are unremarkable that we will chop and submit the same picture. Hell, we might even select the same glasses from a source pic search because they were the best. So it could be that we choppers are all looking over the same candidate sources. On something like selecting source images from master paintings, that really isn't a very large pool. It is even reduced smaller due to we're looking for close up or portraits. So when you see another artist using the same source as you consider it flattering that someone else has the same taste. It is rare as hen's teeth for a chopper to see another chopper use a source and then copy it. It had been done but is rare

Hi Hitspinner,

I admit that people can have the same ideas but at the same time not two days apart! I had started a chop on a self-portrait of Van Gogh, but when I saw that it had already been proposed I dropped it. On the same source the difference is on such a small part of the picture (a pair of glasses) that I felt it was not worth it.

I get what you say. Where it gets really strange is when two choppers wind up doing very similar chops in freak show. I have seen a few chops get entered where you could tell both artists worked their A55es off and submitted, unusually similar pieces. That will raise your antennae.

Often I've started an entry way before someone submits their entry that used a similar source. It would be unfair to start again, I certainly don't have that available time. It's a shame you didn't submit the Van Gough Denlig. I wouldn't be offended and yours would probably be better .

I also had two entries denied or removed, I though my William Blake painting with the glasses on the floor was creative with the brief because they are in the painting and obviously the briefs are not as expansive as I imagined.

I can be subtle at times too, like Trump with short legs without having to see the legs. Yet I accept that admin have their protocols. I was hoping to get an award for the most rejects in one day but you might be competing with me jk.
