Wacom-Intuos Users Check-In

Just got an Intuos tablet and wanted to see if any of you used one, what it has done for you and if you have any tips or pointers! I have the 6x8, so I hope size doesn't matter.

Rich, I have an Intuos at work and I don't get to use it nearly as much as I would like. Most of my job is programming rather than graphics.

Mine is a 6x8 and I use it fine, but do find that a larger one could be useful. I would love to get a Cintiq. I was able to use one at a seminar recently and it was great.

Do you have an Intous3 with the finger slides on the side? Mine is an older one and I know they have come a long way since then.

The seminar I was referring to had Bert Monroy as the speaker and he spoke highly of tablets.

I've got a Wacom Graphire. I mainly use the mouse for it. I'm much better with a good old fashioned ink pen or pencil than I imagine I'll ever be with a techie cyber pen. They still mess with my head too much. Maybe some day I'll bother to try to get the hang of it.

I'll second that.

I have a Wacom Volito 2, not sure it is available in America. It is similar to the Graphire. I find it useful for detailed stuff but for larger areas I use the mouse. Old habits die hard. MWF put me onto the idea of having one. I must admit I do like it's precision. Still haven't quite got the hang of the double clicks. You can vary the pressure of the pen which is handy.

Checking in...

Love my Int3. Lovely wife bought it for me in Dec.

Tip: Drop the mouse and use ONLY the pen for a few weeks. Use it for everything, Email, News, surfing, ... , whatever you do on your computer. This will get you comfortable with it & once that happens, Photoshop will be like candy. I hardly remember how I did anything with the mouse now. A great man (not me) once said: Chopping with a mouse is like painting with a shoe.

I completely agree, midian. That's exactly what I did. I put away my wireless mouse and used the pen for everything. I think it really helped. Great tip to share!
