OMG!!!

LOL. I just got Photoshop 6...it's the best I could get. But I install it and open it and it's telling me things I know nothing about. Please be patient and if the bombardment of questions bothers you just say so..lol I'm also going to check out some of those tutorials tonight...but remember I hate to read laughing my arse off!

Off to figure out what a scratch something is and how to fix it to do what it needs to do on my second HD..lol

Happiness is not in the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort.

I think anything 6 and above is good. Goog is right about 6 not being that much different than 7, and truth be told, if you are not a hard core designer, CS ( is not that big of a leap up either.

But going from 5.5 to 6 was the biggest jump that I have ever seen from Photoshop, and I have been using it since 2!

I don't understand the scratch thing either. My fave tools are, levels, selective colour, replace colour, brightness contrast, clone, colour burn and colour dodge, erase. Rectangular and elliptical marque, curves, quick mask, Transform and layers, not necessarily in that order. Most important of all history.

I haven't got to grips with the healing brush yet, or the history brush. When in doubt, I use the help files, though they are sometimes confusing. Sometimes I have come across things, while looking for something else. Often I will do something the hard way for a while, before finding out the short cut.

Trial and error is a good way to learn if you find reading tedious.

If your getting an error saying not enough scratch disc space that means your file has used up all the available hard drive ram. Each time you open an image and begin to build on it and apply filters, photoshop needs to store the information in what is called scratch space. This scratch space will return to normal once you quit photoshop. When you get a chance look and see how much disc space you have available on your hard drive and try to free up atleast a gig if your going to be working in alot of layers and alot of filters. Also if you have a secondary drive you can add that drive as a second scratch disc. Its in preferences/ plug ins and scratch disc.
Hope that helps and doesnt confuse you even more.
