This contest is fueled by the following news:

A group of people in Germany want to rid the country of Santa Claus. They contend that Santa Claus has become the symbol of the commercialization of Christmas. The group has printed thousands of stickers in large areas of Germany and Austria that are being called "Santa Free Zones." Pamphlets are also being handed out on street corners to remind people that the traditional Christmas gift giver is Saint Nicholas, not the red suited and white bearded Santa Claus which was a creation of the English speaking world.
