This contest is fueled by the following news: Every license plate has the unique registration number of the vehicle. It is generally applied in the front or rear of the vehicle. Mainly, the license plate and vehicle registration number indicates the administrative region in which the vehicle is registered. In many countries, the number is issued by the registration office. In countries like Canada, Australia, Germany, Pakistan and in the US the registration numbers for license plates are issued by the local administration. In the USA, where every state issues its own license plates, New York was the first one to issue the license plates in 1901. In the beginning there were no standardized license plates and owner of each vehicle had to make a plate himself. Germans invented the type-face, which is called falsification-hindering script. It is designed in such a way that the letter O can not be changed into a Q and vice-versa; and also P can not be converted to an R. A businessman spent more than sixty million Durhams to buy the costliest license plate and vehicle number in the world. He said that he didn't intend to give up and could pay any amount of money so as to own his favorite license plates. The family of al-Khuri already owns costly license plates with vehicle registration numbers with digits "5" and "7". Talal, cousin of Syed, paid more than 36 million Durhams (10 million dollars). Resources from the sale of vehicle license plates in the auctions, which are conducted with the motto "Special number for Special Purposes", are used in the funds for helping the physically handicapped people including the ones who suffered road accidents. Vehicle license plates in the United Arab Emirates can be purchased forever. It may be kept while the family vehicle fleet is changed. Numbers may be handed down to sons and daughters and gifted. It may also be given (sold) together with the vehicle as well as without it. Local observers think that the family of al-Khuri buys the attractive registration license plates for resale.
